Birchwood JFC was originally formed in 1985. The club was known as Locking Stumps JFC, having two teams managed by Margaret and Barry Thorpe with the help of Charles Heron. Funds were not as they are today and a decision was made to merge with the local Gorse Covert JFC which was managed by Bert Ford and Peter Tomknow and renamed as Birchwood JFC.
The move proved beneficial despite difficult beginnings. The club has grown stronger both on the pitch and financially. It is good to see what has been achieved over the years by past and present committee members and managers.
The club has been awarded "Charter Standard" which is a great landmark for the club.
The club is also now a Registered Charity.
